The Osun ADC New Media has called on the people of Osun State to reject the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the polls, citing what it describes as an alleged wave of politically motivated killings and violence that has rocked parts of the state over the last two weeks.
According to the Osun ADC New Media, the recent killings have allegedly been linked to supporters of the Osun APC in several public reports and political accusations. The group stressed that these allegations should be thoroughly investigated by security agencies to establish the facts and ensure justice for victims.
"We urge every peace-loving voter in Osun to make a statement with their ballot by voting ADC.No political ambition is worth the blood of innocent citizens. Our state deserves leaders whose politics unite rather than divide the people," the statement said.
The group expressed sympathy to families who have lost loved ones and prayed for the quick recovery of those injured in the various incidents of violence.
It called on security agencies to carry out impartial and professional investigations into all reported killings and ensure that anyone found culpable, regardless of political affiliation, is prosecuted in accordance with the law.
The ADC New Media maintained that democracy cannot flourish where citizens are intimidated by violence or where political competition degenerates into bloodshed.
"Our message is simple: Osun people must choose peace over violence, unity over intimidation, and hope over fear. If the allegations surrounding these incidents are established through due process, the people must ensure that such politics has no place in Osun."
The group urged residents to remain peaceful, shun reprisals, and exercise their democratic rights peacefully during the forthcoming elections.
